So first up is Sonia

Sonia has chosen a stunning photo for the beautiful layout she has done for us, I love the way she has used a dark background for the foundation of her layout. It's a great contrast for the red in her photo. While the gold on her title and splattered on her foundation page is the perfect finishing touch.

Here is what Sonia has to say about her layout.

I find red a hard colour to work with so for this challenge I found my favourite red based photo and then grounded it with black and gold on my layout. I mixed up two lots of words / phrases to make up my title

IDW0094 #Instagram, #awesome, #happy, #wonderful, #selfie. words

IDP0200 Summer Paradise

These were both heat embossed in gold powder.
To add flow to my page I added in the gorgeous Twigs which come 2 to a board (Twigs IDFL0013). I inked these in a combination of two shades of green (Tim Holtz Distress Inks Shabby Shutters and Peeled paint.

It's all the little touches Sonia adds to her layouts that I find so appealing. Layers of fussy cut flowers, tag, postcard, metal elements and more, carefully placed by Sonia to form a base for her photo to sit on.  Splatters of paint and crystals add the final touches to a beautiful layout.
Thanks Sonia for sharing your beautiful layout with us.

Next up is Karyn

Karyn has done a layout to celebrate a special family Christmas and has the perfect photos for her page. I love the way Karyn is not afraid to make funny faces and often uses them on her pages. It shows her inner confidence and her great sense of humour.
Here is what Karyn has to say about her layout.
I made a Christmas scrapbook page with this RED theme. I started by using white cardstock and one of my favourite TCW stencils (12x12 Tile Mania) and some "Lipstick" colour blast paste, then I added some splatters of Luminarte Primary Elements in poppy red.
When my paste and paint had dried I cut my white cardstock down and backed it with some red patterned paper from Pink Fresh Studio "Escape the ordinary" collection.
I matted my photos with white paper dollies and attached them to my page as shown.
All of my chipboard was painted with the poppy red luminarte primary elements. I often prefer to paint it on rather than spray as there is less mess and wastage.

I added some small paper flowers and some of Nat's stemmed leaves.
IDD045 Nat's hand drawn stemmed leaves.
To finish off my layout, I added some of Louise's chipboard chevrons and chipboard stars. Lastly I added some splatters of black Heidi Swapp colourshine spray.

IDT0036 Start Board Tinnies.
What a lovely layout and reminder of a special family day spent together. Karyn always does beautiful layouts with lots of white space around her photo's and just the right amount of mixed media. Everything is always balanced perfectly, it's Karyn's signature and she does it so well.
Thank you Karyn for sharing your family day with us.
Last up is Me.
I have a series of photo's taken of my daughter Anna at her sisters wedding. Anna loves dancing and at the wedding she danced with everyone and anyone who would take to the floor with her. She has no inhibitions and just does not care what people think. Whilst this can be a bit of a handicap in some areas of her life - it means she can do what she loves with her whole heart and not be self conscious like most of us are. She had so much fun and danced most of the night.

I wanted a layout to celebrate the fun she had with a layout.

I cut a piece of white watercolour paper for the foundation of my layout.
I placed a large blob of Tim Holtz's Fired Brick Red distress re-inker to my paper,  added a small amount of water and used a straw to blow the ink where I wanted it. While it was still wet, I added  small amounts of Lindy's Stamp Gang Peony Scarlet Red spray and let it run on top of the wet fired brick red ink. I flicked some of the two colours onto the white space on my layout.
I torn some music paper and this time using a fired brick red distress ink pad, I rubbed around the edges of my torn paper. I used a wet paint brush and smudge the ink. I added some high lights using the Peony Scarlet Red spray with my brush. I have a stash of 7 Gypsy tape and the ruler tape is one of my favourites so I used a bit of it on my layout.
I wanted the photo to be the focus so I kept my layout simple. I painted my heart with some of my fired brick ink re-inker and added some black archival ink round the edges. I used some of the small chipboard apha's to spell the word "Dance". I inked them black with archival ink. I also use one of the new chipboard flourishes and cut the top off,  I attached it at the bottom of my flourish.  I inked it black, again with my archival ink and glued it so it sits over my photo. I printed some words and added them under my chipboard heart and title. To finish my layout, I matted my photo and watercolour paper with black cardstock and attached it to a matching piece of red bazzill.
All the Design team have done  beautiful and inspiring projects for us this month. Each of the Ladies have their own unique style and it shows in the work they create for us.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing how they have used the colour red as much has I have.
thanks for looking
Jane
